Vacuum Brazing of long PCD tips is a tool making challenge due to thermal expansion differential between the PCD and the WC substrate which creates a bi-metal effect and causes bending of the PCD.
Pinpower have very precise control of the temperature profile, and real time visibility of the braze flow which can assist in minimizing this issue.
We have successfully managed to braze long thin pieces ( up to 38mm x 4mm) , on a multi-tip and round tool, and limited the bending and reproducibility to within .005” which is acceptable for most applications.
